At least two people were killed after heavy rainfall lashed Pingwu County in Mianyang City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, since Monday night, China Media Group (CMG) learned on Tuesday. 

As of noon on Tuesday, 31 people trapped by the rainfall were rescued and four others remained missing, rescuers told CMG.

Meanwhile, some 700 people have been transferred to safety following the downpour.

Repair work is underway for damaged road and other infrastructure.
