Torrential rains have hit China's southwestern cities, causing flooding and water-logging in addition to traffic disruptions and leaving residents stranded. In Pingwu County, the heavy downpours have caused flooding in many places and communications have been disrupted. Local government and police dispatched traffic police and vehicles to drain flood waters. As of 12 p.m. on July 12, heavy rain had killed two people while four more have been reported missing. At least 31 people have been rescued and over 700 people evacuated.
