A private funeral ceremony is being held at Zojoji Temple for former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, who was shot dead by a gunman during a campaign speech on July 8. 

Only family and close friends were permitted to attend the ceremony. 

A second ceremony was to take place on the same day for colleagues from the worlds of politics, business and diplomacy.
