China and Malaysia vowed to expedite cooperation and move forward with key Belt and Road Initiative projects. These were the outcomes from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's last stop of a five-country tour through Southeast Asia. In a meeting with Malaysia's King Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, the sultan welcomed more Chinese investment, and expressed willingness to ensure joint projects that would serve as models of interconnectivity. Wang said China has been the largest trade partner of Malaysia for 13 consecutive years, and the all-round cooperation between the two countries has been fruitful, boosting both countries' development and rejuvenation, and delivering huge benefits to the two peoples. Wang Yi also met with Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah.
