China commissioned its Haixun-06 maritime patrol vessel in Pingtan City on Monday, clearing it to become the first such vessel to patrol the Taiwan Straits. The 128-meter-long, 16-meter-wide, 6,600-ton vessel will mainly be used for marine traffic supervision and emergency rescue. The vessel will strengthen China's maritime supervision and service capabilities in Fujian's coastal areas, improve dynamic maritime traffic control and emergency response, and ensure smooth cargo transport and safety in important shipping channels.
