Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has fled the country, according to AP which cited an immigration official saying the president, his wife, and two bodyguards were aboard a Sri Lankan Air Force plane that left early morning bound for the city of Male, the capital of the Maldives. Rajapaksa was due to resign as president on July 13. He has not been seen in public since last Friday. His brother, former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa, was stopped by co-passengers from leaving Sri Lanka.
