Sri Lanka declares state of emergency after president flees

Sri Lanka on Wednesday declared a state of emergency after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled, AFP reported, citing Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's office.

A curfew has been imposed in the Western Province, home to capital city Colombo, Bloomberg reported. The report also stated that protesters are entering the prime minister's office.
