Sri Lankan Parliament Speaker receives resignation of president

The speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has received President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's official letter of resignation, local media reported on Thursday.
It was not immediately clear if the letter, sent shortly after Rajapaksa arrived in Singapore, would be accepted in email form, said the report.
