Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena declared that he has yet to receive President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's official letter of resignation, local media has reported.

Abeywardena said he was exploring legal advice to see if he can consider that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has vacated his post even without the letter, local media News First reported.

The speaker said he informed Rajapaksa to submit his letter of resignation as soon as possible, telling him that "he too is under pressure," according to the report.
