U.S. President Joe Biden on Saturday held a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, before the start of the Jeddah Security and Development Summit in Saudi Arabia, the Iraqi News Agency reported.
The two leaders affirmed their "mutual commitment to the strong bilateral partnership between Iraq and the United States, in accordance with the Strategic Framework Agreement, and their determination to proceed with security coordination to ensure that ISIS does not return again," according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Prime Minister's Media Office.
Biden welcomed Iraqi prime minister's initiative to host talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran in Baghdad.
The U.S. president also held separate bilateral meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the sidelines of the Jeddah summit.
