Sri Lanka's parliament has met to begin the process of electing a new president. The election is scheduled for Wednesday and nominations will be accepted on Monday. Rajiv Biswas, the Asia-Pacific Chief Economist with S&P Global Market Intelligence, says that the key priority for the new government is to negotiate multilateral or bilateral assistance for additional foreign exchange.
