Chinese President Xi Jinping called for developing northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region into a united, harmonious, prosperous and culturally advanced region. He made the remarks during his inspection tour from July 12 to July 15.

Xi said, "With Belt and Road cooperation advancing, Xinjiang is no longer a remote corner but a core area and a hub. What you have done is of historic significance."
