European Union (EU) diplomats on Wednesday reached an agreement to impose a fresh round of sanctions on Russia, the Permanent Representative of Poland to the European Union Andrzej Sados said after the meeting.

The sanctions included an import ban on Russian gold, reinforcement on technology export controls, as well as targeting additional individuals and entities, a diplomat who spoke under condition of anonymity told Reuters, adding that sanctions would take effect after completing short formal procedures.
