Located in central China's Luoyang City, the Longmen Grottoes were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000 and are considered one of China's three renowned treasure houses of Buddhist art.
Over 2,000 caves house as many as 100,000 statues, ranging from one inch to 57 feet in height, though unfortunately many of the statues were destroyed in the 1970s. Thanks to six months of painstaking efforts, the original appearance of the Buddhist statue of Locana, which was built over 1,000 years ago, has been restored and it debuts today.
