The deadly combination of extreme heat and drought has left a path of destruction across Europe. Spain and Portugal are seeing hundreds of deaths, and in Hungary, water shortages have prompted the authorities to issue the highest level of heat alert. Muhammad Irfan Khan, professor of environmental science at the International Islamic University Islamabad, said many European houses are not built to suit the hot weather.
