Gu Ailing was named "Best Breakthrough Athlete" at the ESPY Awards at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, U.S., July 20, 2022. /CFP

Gu Ailing, also known as Eileen Gu, won the "Best Breakthrough Athlete" at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old bagged two gold medals in freeski big air and halfpipe and one silver medal in the slopestyle at Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

The ESPY Award, short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award, is organized annually by America's ABC television network and sports channel ESPN to celebrate the best players, teams and moments in sports.

NBA star Stephen Curry won the "Best NBA Player" award.
