A massive wildfire that broke out in the Penteli region of northern Athens, Greece on July 19 is largely under control, according to local authorities.

Nineteen firefighting aircraft are still working to extinguish smaller fires in Athens' northeastern suburbs. A total of 630 firefighters and 230 fire engines have participated, according to the Greek Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection.

One person died and three are injured and approximately 90,000 people have been affected. Three firefighters were also taken to hospital.
