The EU on Friday cautiously welcomed deals by Russia and Ukraine with the United Nations and Türkiye on resuming grain shipments that could ease a global food crisis in which millions face hunger. 

"Today's Istanbul agreement is a step in the right direction. We call for its swift implementation," tweeted the bloc's foreign policy chief Josep Borrell.
