A magnitude-5.9 earthquake hit 53 kilometers south of Keng Tung, Myanmar, at 00:07 a.m. local time (1707 GMT Thursday) on Friday, with a depth of 10 km, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The earthquake's epicenter is about 57 kilometers from China's border. The Jinghong City of Xishuangbanna Prefecture, southwest China's Yunnan Province, felt a strong tremor. Xishuangbanna's fire and rescue unit has assembled 19 vehicles and 122 firefighters to respond to the emergency. No casualties or damage to houses have been reported yet.
