Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday extended the wish that his U.S. counterpart Joe Biden makes a speedy recovery from COVID-19.

In a message of sympathy, Xi said he would like to extend his sincere best wishes to the U.S. president. "I wish you a speedy recovery."

Biden, 79, had tested positive for COVID-19 and was "experiencing very mild symptoms," the White House announced Thursday morning local time. He tweeted Thursday noon that he was "doing great."
