Three people were killed on Sunday afternoon in a shooting at Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Metro Manila, according to local police.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte confirmed that the Ateneo shooting's victims are former Lamitan City Mayor Rose Furigay, her former aide Victor Capistrano, and an Ateneo guard. Furigay's daughter – an Ateneo Law School student expected to graduate today – was wounded.

The shooting happened at 2:55 p.m. local time on Sunday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said via Twitter.

The suspect in the shooting, identified by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) as Chao Tiao Yumol, is now in police custody at Camp Karingal following his arrest on Sunday afternoon, the Philippine Star reported.

Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos said he is "shocked and saddened over the shooting incident in Ateneo de Manila University" on Sunday and vowed to "bring all involved to justice."

The university announced the Ateneo Law School's graduation ceremony, which was scheduled to be held this afternoon, was canceled due to the incident.

QCPD Director Brigadier General Remus Medina said that the incident is an "isolated case," citing the suspect's personal feud with Furigay.
