Two people who were critically injured in a shooting at Peck Park in San Pedro in the U.S. state of California have died, the Los Angeles police said at a press conference on Sunday, adding five others were wounded.

In an earlier statement, the Los Angeles Fire Department said four men and three women were hospitalized, at least three with gunshot wounds and two in critical conditions.

"At least seven injured civilians (four male and three female) have been taken to area hospitals by LAFD Paramedics following gunfire at or near a car show at Peck Park. At least three of the patients are confirmed to have sustained gunshot injury, including one male and one female, both transported in critical condition," said the Los Angeles Fire Department in a statement earlier.

Officers were called to the scene at 3:51 p.m. local time on Sunday. They said they believed the shooting involved multiple gunmen and could have been a gang-related incident.
