Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a congratulatory letter to the second China-Africa Peace and Security Forum, which was held by Chinese Ministry of National Defense.

Realizing enduring peace and universal security is a common aspiration of the Chinese and African peoples, Xi said in his letter to the event, mentioning the security challenges and "profound changes" the world's facing now.

When developing its relationship with Africa, China has always adhered to the "right concept of justice and interests" and treated African friends with "genuineness and amity," Xi said, after calling the continent his country's "good friend, good partner and good brother."

Xi vowed to stick to the security concept – which features togetherness, comprehensiveness, cooperation and sustainability – along with the African countries, uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, safeguard international fairness and justice, and promote the implementation of global security initiatives.

He also called for the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
