The 14th Tour of Sayram Lake ended on Tuesday in Bortala, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Thirty-three cycling teams and more than 160 riders from across the country took part in the five-day event. The final stage saw many locals riding horses to cheer on the cyclists. The race covers 420 kilometers in five stages, passing icy mountains, desert, grasslands, wetlands, and the alpine lake of Sayram. The event's total prize is up to 400,000 yuan ($60,000), and teams are offered a subsidy of 80,000 yuan ($12,000).
