At least five people were killed and 131 others injured after a magnitude-7 earthquake hit Luzon Island in the Philippines on Wednesday, according to the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Thursday.
A "state of calamity" has been declared in the Abra Province, which was the epicenter of the quake, in order to "immediately address the needs of the people in the aftermath of the earthquake," the provincial government said in a statement on Thursday.
