Sri Lanka's parliament approves extension of state of emergency

Sri Lanka's parliament has extended its state of emergency declared earlier this month by then acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe. The vote passed by 120 to 63 in the 225-member parliament. The state of emergency went into effect from July 18 under the Public Security Ordinance.
