China successfully launched a new batch of remote sensing satellites from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwestern province of Sichuan on Friday.

The satellites, the third group of the Yaogan-35 family, were sent into orbit atop a Long March-2D carrier rocket at 9:28 p.m. Beijing Time.

The satellites will mainly be used for carrying out scientific research, land resource survey, agricultural yields estimation and natural disaster prevention and mitigation.

Friday's launch was the 429th mission of China's Long March rocket series.

China launched the first and second groups of Yaogan-35 satellites on November 6, 2021, and June 23, 2022, respectively.
