The Chinese mainland recorded 109 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, with 60 attributed to local transmissions and 49 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Friday.

A total of 455 asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Thursday, and 7,200 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland is 229,294, with the death toll from COVID-19 standing at 5,226.  

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:  

Hong Kong: 353,578 (67,265 recoveries, 9,493 deaths)  

Macao: 789 (596 recoveries, six deaths)  

Taiwan: 4,522,365 (13,742 recoveries, 8,776 deaths)
