The Senate Appropriations Committee is proposing $850 billion in total national defense spending for fiscal 2023, as part of its nearly $1.7 trillion spending package unveiled Thursday, the Hill reported.

According to the report,  the funds would appropriate $792.1 billion for the Department of Defense, $63.6 billion above what was enacted for fiscal year 2022.
