The second China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) concluded on Saturday in Haikou, the capital of south China's Hainan Province.

The event attracted more than 280,000 visits and 2,800 brands of 1,955 companies from 61 countries and regions, according to data released by the expo on Saturday.

As China's first consumer goods-themed expo, the CICPE, which started last year, has become a new platform to demonstrate China's willingness to share its market opportunities with the world and contribute to global economic recovery and growth.

This year, 104 new products from 68 brands in various sectors including cosmetics, jewelry, beverage and technology, made their debut at the expo.

The expo marks a step forward in the construction of the Hainan free trade port as China released a master plan last June to build the island province into a globally influential and high-level free trade port by the middle of the century.

Hainan has implemented a series of preferential policies such as visa-free entry, offshore duty-free shopping and a tax-exempt imports list, which has provided a good channel for overseas brands to enter the Chinese market.
