China's Wang Qiang advanced to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Prague Open semifinals after defeating Poland's Magda Linette 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-4 on Friday.

This is the second time Wang reached the last four in the WTA Tour this year. She last reached the semifinals in Guadalajara in February.

Wang survived a scare in the three-hour match, as Linette denied Wang's chance to finish the match at 2-0, when Wang was leading the second set 3-0.

"I'm very happy to win. I had a roller coaster ride this match. She did too. I'm glad I was able to stick to myself and play my style," Wang said after the match.

"The second set shook my confidence a bit. I adjusted myself in the last set to claim the match. A three-hour match was pretty tiring for both of us. I just persisted till the end," Wang added.

Wang, ranked world No.141, will set up a semifinal match with world No. 59 Anastasia Potapova from Russia, while the other semifinal will feature Marie Bouzkova and Linda Noskova, both from the Czech Republic.

Elsewhere on Friday, at the WTA Poland Open quarterfinal round, French player Caroline Garcia ended home favorite and world No.1 Iga Swiatek's clay-court winning streak of 18 matches with a 2-1 victory.

Swiatek had not lost a match on clay since the French Open quarterfinals in 2021.
