The Chinese mainland recorded 116 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, with 74 attributed to local transmissions and 42 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Sunday.

A total of 425 asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Saturday, and 7,128 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.  

The cumulative number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland is 229,510, with the death toll from COVID-19 standing at 5,226.  

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:  

Hong Kong: 355,170 (67,573 recoveries, 9,502 deaths)  

Macao: 791 (666 recoveries, six deaths)  

Taiwan: 4,567,122 (13,742 recoveries, 8,893 deaths)
