The McKinney Fire covered more than 52,000 acres in Siskiyou County, California, and was zero percent contained as of July 31, according to Cal Fire. Firefighters worked to contain the fire in difficult conditions as the Klamath National Forest Service reported hot and dry weather had contributed to the rapid spread.
