The severe floods that hit eastern Kentucky last week have wreaked havoc across the state. The consequent death toll has risen to at least 37, including four children from a single family. Continuous heavy rainfall in late July caused water levels to surge in many rivers throughout the state, annihilating many nearby homes. As of August 1, nearly 10,000 households and businesses in the flood zones are still without power. Kentucky residents who chose to stay in their homes told a CMG reporter about the horrific scenes when the floods hit.
