The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Wednesday reiterated member states' support for the one-China policy in light of U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

"ASEAN calls for maximum restraint, refrain from provocative action and for upholding the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia," it said in a statement that was released on Thursday.
