The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command continued its joint military exercises in the seas and airspace to the north, southwest and east of the island of Taiwan on August 6 and 7.

On the evening of August 2, disregarding China's strong opposition and stern representations, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a blatant visit to China's Taiwan region. The PLA has conducted its largest military exercises in six strategic areas that encircle Taiwan since August 4.
