Israel and Palestine agreed to reach a Gaza truce mediated by Cairo that would take effect at 8 p.m. local time on Sunday evening, Reuters quoted a Palestinian official as saying.
A spokesperson from the Palestinian side said that efforts are being made at the highest level for a ceasefire in Gaza.
A source said the agreement would be announced by Egypt at 5 p.m. local time, Al Jazeera reported on Sunday, adding that the agreement included an easing of the siege and allowing fuel trucks entry to the power station in Gaza by Monday.
According to the report, Egypt will commit by agreement to follow up on prisoners' issues, especially those of Bassam Al-Saadi and Khalil Al-Awawdeh, who have been on hunger strike for weeks in protest of their detention by Israel with neither charge nor trial.
