At least 13 civilians were killed in Sierra Leone's capital,  Freetown, during anti-government protests on Wednesday, staff at the city's main mortuary said on Thursday.

Six police officers were killed in protests in northern and western Sierra Leone on Wednesday, said the country's police chief on Thursday.

The West African country, which has been struggling with rising inflation and a fuel crisis, has imposed a nationwide curfew in a bid to stem the violence.
