Deaths from this week's heavy rain in South Korea have risen to 13, and six have gone missing, officials said Friday.

Eight of the dead were in Seoul, three were in the surrounding Gyeonggi Province, and two were in the eastern Gangwon Province, according to data from the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.

The Chinese Embassy in South Korea has confirmed that two Chinese citizens were among those killed in the torrential rain that has been unseen for over a century.
