The highland barley in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province is embracing the harvest season as autumn nears.

The six varieties planted in Xialatuo Town form a colorful landscape reflecting different ripening times.

The local government and farmers have worked to upgrade planting techniques to improve low yields. This year, its planting area reached nearly 3,333 hectares and its output is expected to exceed 9,000 tonnes.
