Source of Britain's River Thames driest ever as Europe battles heat and drought
00:52

Massive wildfires are raging across Europe, driven by heatwaves. In central Portugal, more than 1,500 firefighters have spent a sixth day fighting a wildfire in the central Covilha region. Over 10,000 hectares of land have been burned, including parts of the Serra da Estrela national park. And a "monster" wildfire has raged for a third day in southwestern France, ravaging forests and forcing 10,000 people to evacuate their homes. Firefighting teams and equipment from six EU nations have joined the effort to bring the fires under control. Britain is also in the grip of a historic heat wave. The sweltering conditions have left the source of the Thames dry. Experts say there are no signs of aquatic life for over 16 kilometers.
