A shooting occurred at Canberra Airport in the Australian capital on Sunday afternoon local time, reported the Sydney Morning Herald.

"Shortly after one person was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered. CCTV has been reviewed and at this time the person in custody is believed to be the only person responsible for this incident," the Australian Federal Police said in a news release on Sunday. 

The airport terminal was evacuated as a precaution and the situation at the airport has been contained, the police said, adding there have been no reports of injuries.
