August 15 marks the National Liberation Day of Korea, a holiday celebrated annually in both South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It commemorates Victory over Japan Day, when the Korean Peninsula was liberated from 35 years of Japanese colonial rule. The South Korean president has given an address.
