Lula hits 44% voter support ahead of Brazilian election: poll

Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has surged to a 12-point lead over incumbent President Jair Bolsonaro ahead of the October election, according to a new poll published on Monday.

The survey by IPEC, formerly known as IBOPE, shows Lula with 44% support against 32% for Bolsonaro ahead of the first round of voting scheduled for October 2.
