Beijing tightens entry rule amid growing COVID pressure

People with travel or residence history in areas with at least one COVID-19 case within seven days of their departure will not be allowed to enter Beijing, a spokesperson for the city's municipal government told a press conference on Wednesday.

Xu Hejian said that the Chinese capital now faces growing pressure in responding to COVID-19 cases from home and abroad.

Beijing has reported six COVID-19 cases linked to other parts of China and two to overseas travelers in August.
