Chinese premier urges support for new energy vehicles
CGTN

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday called for research into new tax policies to support new energy vehicles (NEVs), according to China Media Group (CMG).

During his visit to the world's biggest electric vehicle producer by sales, BYD, headquartered in south China's Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, Li said NEVs "are on the rise."

The premier also called for boosting big-ticket consumption and said all types of enterprises, whether state-owned, private, foreign, or joint ventures, shall be treated equally in terms of policy support, CMG reported.

NEVs include battery, hybrid and fuel-cell vehicles.

In April 2020, China extended government subsidies on NEVs by two years to the end of this year to boost NEV consumption.
