The UN World Food Programme's (WFP) first maritime humanitarian shipment of Ukrainian wheat left the Port of Yuzhny on August 16. This is an important milestone in efforts to get much needed Ukrainian grain out of the conflict zone, back into global markets, and to countries worst affected by the global food crisis. The shipment of 23,000 metric tonnes of wheat aims to assist the WFP's humanitarian response in the drought stricken Horn of Africa, which is threatened by famine.
