China's first 10,000-ton-class large destroyer, the Nanchang, recently conducted a live-fire drill in a maritime area to provide fire support for landing troops. The Nanchang, the first of China's most powerful Type 055 large destroyers, was commissioned into the People's Liberation Army Navy in early 2020. The Chinese navy is building a "Great Wall" at sea to withstand foreign dangers while contributing to world peace and regional stability.
As part of the training mission and following the commander's order, the destroyer's main and secondary artillery fired simultaneously to conduct precise strikes on shore targets. Launched on June 28, 2017, the destroyer is equipped with new air defense, anti-missile, anti-ship and anti-submarine weapons, and it has achieved leapfrog development in many areas.
