The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that the Russian troops do not have heavy weapons at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant or in nearby districts, RIA news agency reported.

The Russian ministry also claimed that Kyiv is preparing a "provocation" at the nuclear plant during United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' visit in Ukraine on August 19.

The Ukrainian side has not responded to this report. CGTN cannot independently verify these claims.
