Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended a virtual conference on Thursday to discuss progress following last November's Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit in Senegal. Wang said what Africa needs is a peaceful and friendly environment for cooperation, not a Cold War mentality. Zhang Yongpeng, a senior research fellow at the Institute of West Asian and African Studies under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, says China and African countries all oppose a new Cold War.
